Abstract
In this research, the authors discuss the implementation of RFID in the Slims information system at the UPT Library, Yogyakarta State University. This research aims to find out how the role and impact of implementing RFID in UPT Library UNY. This research used a qualitative research method with observation and interview data collection techniques which were evaluated using PIECES analysis (Performance, information, economy, controlling, efficiency, and service). Interviews are a series of activities to communicate appropriately between researchers and informants or resource persons. While observation is an activity of systematic observation of the elements in the object of research, observation is based on research objectives and research observations. The informants in this study were librarians and UPT Library staff of UNY, who were in accordance with the capabilities of qualitative informants, while the data processing used data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results of this study indicate that the existence of RFID in the library provides benefits in service efficiency at the library and has a positive impact in terms of 6 aspects, namely performance, information, economy, controlling, efficiency, and service. Meanwhile, during the use of RFID at the UPT Library of UNY, librarians and staff have not experienced significant problems.
