Abstract

Dysfunctional patterns in the family context, such as emotional deficits, harmful interactions, negative modelling, harmful lifestyle habits and disrespectful communication patterns, have been identified as factors that impact on children's inadequate development. In this sense, parental education group programmes have been considered valuable resources to help parents in the performance of their parental functions. However, there is a need for training actions that respond to the new realities, needs and interests of families. Therefore, the aim of this research was to identify the key elements that could serve as a model for the design of parental education programmes by consulting experts. For this purpose, the two-round Delphi method was used to obtain consensus. Thirty-five subjects participated. Most of the statements considered were supported by more than 80% of the participants, with averages above 3 points. The proposal included, among other components, the duration, frequency and number of sessions, the scheme of action sequences, the objectives, the contents, the teaching and learning methodologies and techniques, the relevant aspects related to the training of future trainers and the evaluation of programmes. It is hoped that the thematic lines and the technical and methodological elements proposed will be considered in the design of these interventions and then in their development at the community level to address family educational guidance from the development and strengthening of parental competencies.
