Abstract
• This paper shows the findings of a piece of research carried out with Colombian pre-service science teachers. Particularly, it points out the results derived from the application of a didactic sequence which ties up the category nature of science (NoS) along with the historical models of Boyle’s law, such as the philosophical controversy about the vacuum, the interest for the experimental vacuum production and, finally, the design of the air pump and the works of Boyle about the air pressure. It highlights the key role of history of science so as to learn science, that is to say, its outcomes and procceses.
