Abstract
Authors studied the frequency of six categories of gestures carried out by eight boys with autism and eight typical boys aged 12-36 months. Films were divided into four six-months periods. Results showed that the frequency of gestures was different between typical and autistic group according to the type of gestures and to the developmental period. Among others, in the Autistic group, a « Regressive Profile » and a « Defective Profile » were observed depending on a raise of frequency during the 18-24 months period. The developmental level and the degree of autism were also different in both groups. These findings were compared with similar previous works.
