Bibliometric Analysis of Tourism Research on the City of Girona

Abstract

This study is characterized as the state of knowledge about academic and scientific production on the thematic tourism and Girona, through a bibliometric analysis. This information provides a broad picture of academic production on this subject. As for the methodology, this study is characterized by a qualitative research and is an exploratory and descriptive study. With the data that have been extracted from databases, we analyze the evolution of the number of published works, authors, journals and languages of publication, topics of studies, keywords and others. The results show that in spite of all the tourist potential presented by the city of Girona and the educational centers of tourism in the city itself, the academic knowledge generated has not been published in academic journals or has as object of study the city.
