Abstract
This article stresses the responsibility that manufacturers have in supplying equipment specifically designed to withstand the special conditions evidenced in developing countries. Relief agencies are finding that much of the equipment installed in recent years is now becoming redundant and often irrepairable - failures which drain the charities' funds and more importantly put people's lives at risk.
