Abstract
Purpose: R&D a ctivities, a s well a s its knowledge multidisciplinary fostered contribute to technology-based enterprises (TBE) seek innovation of products in continuous and colla borative wa ys. Enterprise ca pa bility to dea ling with diversity, inimita ble va lues, emotional a nd socia l links a mong individua ls involved in cha nging is crucia l for P&D succeed. Considering context, we follow to a nswer resea rch question: How do TBE a rticula te rela tional ca pability to new products development (NPD)? Design/methodology/approach: Thereunto, a multiple ca ses study in four TBE is performed into biotech industry. Findings: Outcomes led to design a descriptive rela tional ca pability model a ssociated with NPD which identify intera ctions a nd synergies tha t contribute to deeper knowledge in stra tegic a llia nces management in TBE for NPD. Research, Practical & Social implications: There a re clea r contributions to a dvance knowledge through this research in respect of deep analysis of relational capabilities into biotech TBE since they opera te in a colla borative R&D system a nd pa rtnership with outsiders to hunt opportunities, resources, a nd technologies. So, we ha ve a social phenomenon to understand rela tional ca pabilities a pplied in NPD under a dynamic market influence.
