Abstract
The symposium Sustainability: Advances and Applications was held during the virtual 261st ACS National Meeting, April 2021. The symposium was co-organized by 2021 ACS President H. N. Cheng and the Agricultural and Food Chemistry Division of ACS. Sixty (60) invited speakers presented their research on Biobased Polymers, Biobased Molecules, Byproduct Utilization, Waste-product Utilization, the Food-Energy-Water Nexus, Nanotech that Drives Sustainability, Food Safety and Security, and Sustainable Food Systems for Health. Contributions to this issue of ACS Food Science & Technology can be generally categorized as leveraging renewable resources for health and nutrition benefits, modifying renewable resources to extend their utility, and computational approaches to help enhance or increase the safety of renewable agricultural resources.
