Abstract

One aspect of development that needs to be considered in early childhood is language development, one of which is related to the child's early reading skills. This study aims to develop a game outside the stairs with a mystery tree using used materials for the activity of starting reading the children of group B in Raudhatul Athfal (RA). This study uses a research and development plan that is carried out through procedures: 1. Conducting research and information gathering, 2) Conducting planning, then being evaluated by experts, 3) Developing the initial product form, 4) Conducting small group trials with 6 subjects, 5) Conducting revisions to the initial product, 6) Conducting major field tests with 20 subjects, 7) Conducting revisions to the Instruments product used in the form of a questionnaire containing product designs and products that have been made. The data analysis technique used is qualitative and quantitative analysis in the form of percentages and expert input addressed to three experts including early childhood learning experts, design experts and early childhood practitioners. The results of the development of the quantitative data analysis of large group field tests, obtained percentages, namely: (1) 95% of children easily play games; (2) 100% of children enjoy playing the ladder snake game with a mystery tree; and (3) 100% of children are safe when playing snake and ladder games with mystery trees. Based on the results of the development of the game of snakes and ladders with a mystery tree, it is concluded that this media is interesting, easy and fun and not dangerous for children to do.
