Abstract

In summary, although much more remains to be discovered in the complex field of regulation of TGF-β signaling, the combination of inhibition of TGF-β signaling and inflammatory response by Smad7 overexpression demonstrated by Nie et al. suggests that this is a promising approach to limiting peritoneal fibrosis in PD and is an important area for future research.
