Abstract
This is an essay on philosophy of education and it aims to show which human being the control society intends to form. It starts from a philosophical conception of education, defined in the introduction. It then seeks to understand the difference between molding and modulation – fundamental to the difference between discipline and control. Only then it is possible to explain why the control society corrects the deficiencies of the disciplinary society. The control society expresses its form in computational machines which, in a network, made algorithms ubiquitous. Its modulation power is infinitely more continuous and variable when compared to discipline. So it remains to be seen which human profile such machines aim to form. Finally, it is necessary to clarify why control, rather than exhaustion, better characterizes 21st century society.
