Abstract
In this article, we will discuss how treatment strategies for myeloma have evolved and outline the challenges now faced following the introduction of a number of novel active agents. In particular, we will focus on how achieving a maximum response and maintaining such responses is becoming a key therapeutic strategy and how novel agents can be used to achieve this in the context of current strategies such as autologous transplantation. © 2005 Cancer Research UK.
