In the aftermath of the Taliban’s takeover of Kabul and much of Afghanistan in 2021, a deeply ideological movement had taken control of a massive territory–and was clearly there to stay. It is, of course, not the first time, in neither recent nor more ancient history, that a ‘revolutionary’ ideological movement had managed to do so.
