Abstract
Game designers must consider their artistic goals, weighing all aspects of gameplay, before deciding on a first or third-person perspective. This article discusses how - using two of the most popular games for comparison (first vs third person): Doom, where players see exactly what their character in the game world would see, and Tomb Raider, which offers the player a full view of the central character.
