Abstract

This article aims at being a brief introduction to the soteriological praxis of Buddhism, underscoring, firstly, the four noble truths (catvaryaryasatyani), that set of cornerstone intuitions propounded by the Buddha since his first sermon; then, the noble eightfold path (aryastangikamarga), the set of practices that aims at the experience of awakening taught by the Buddha is described; finally, the stages of the way are described, both in the theravadin tradition as well as in mahayana's.
