Abstract
The importance of student's perseverance and mathematic work ethic toward mathematics achievement has been acknowledged by the existing research literature. This study examined the role of student's perseverance, mathematics work ethic, and modern school qualification towards mathematics achievement in Indonesia. By applying a multilevel modeling to the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 data for Indonesia, this study investigated the variables, both at individual and school levels, which were linked to mathematics achievement. The multilevel analysis revealed that student's perseverance, mathematics work ethic and modern school qualification were statistically significant predicting the student's mathematics achievement. The conclusive results of analysis also confirmed that student's perseverance was the strongest predictor of mathematics achievement.
