Abstract
While there are many requirements for making successfuldecisions, the raw material is information, and nowhere is this moreevident than in the international arena. Yet despite the growingimportance of international trade, little knowledge exists about howfirms gather information outside their home country. Discusses theimportance of having reliable international business information, andpresents research conducted to examine how firms dealing with globalmarket opportunities collect information outside their own country.Specifically investigates the information most important to exporters,the sources of information important to exporters, and the problemsencountered particularly by South African exporters when trying toaccess information.
