Synthesis of macrocyclic polyazomethines

Abstract

The synthesis of 20-membered macrocyclic polyazomethine dyes 3a and 3b from 4,4′-dihydroxybiphenyl-3,3′-dicarbaldehyde (2a) and 5,5′-diamino-4,4′-dihydroxybiphenyl-3,3′-dicarbaldehyde (2b) and macrocyclic polyazomethine pigments 4 and 5 from 3a is described. ©2007 Sociedade Brasileira de Química.
