Abstract

Roller brake tester is a kind of vehicle braking system test equipment to test the braking force for each vehicle axis and its efficiency. This study aims to analyze the vehicle braking force efficiency due to application of three different braking actions: sudden braking, gradual braking and intermittent press release braking, tested on the roller brake tester. The vehicle used for testing is a type of passenger vehicle weighing of about 1400 kg. The results show that the highest braking force efficiency of about 44% occurs when sudden-braking is applied, while for the lowest braking force efficiency of about 40% occurs when the loose-press braking is applied.
