Abstract

The dissemination in media of the Law of Access to Information in Brazil began in 2009, with the bill sent by the Federal Executive to the House of Representatives and its sanction in 2011. This paper analyzes the speeches made about the media coverage of the Law of Access to Information in Maranhão, by O Estado do Maranhão newspaper, from May 2009 to December 2014. A qualitative approach is used and the corpus is analyzed based on Discourse Analysis. It is concluded that the discursive construction of O Estado do Maranhão newspaper on the Law of Access to Information used media and political strategies that contributed to the silencing, not only of the dissemination, but also of its non-implementation in the territory of Maranhão.
