Abstract
Denial is a key dimension of alcoholism that participates in the difficulties of these patients to change their drinking habits. Taking into account the role of denial, we have built a new multidisciplinary curing model for alcoholic inpatients, where the consequences of alcohol consumption on the body are evaluated before we start evoking with the patients what may perpetuate the drinking habits. This second step allows us, nonewithstanding denial, to evoke the disorder psychological and psychiatric dimensions. In such context, the peculiar form that the "caregiver-receiver" relationship will take, that comprises both cure and symbolisation, and the way this relationship may serve as a therapeutic lever is described in a detailed manner.
