Abstract

The present state of technical development in the field of automation and measurement is described with regard to the two most important plastics processing methods, namely extrusion and injection molding. The first part of the article deals in particular with the major new developments in the measurement of temperature, pressure and dimensions. The second part describes modern process control systems used nowadays for extrusion lines and injection molding machines. Both simple feedback control circuits based on existing measurement units and complex, adaptive systems are compared with one another. For figures see German text.
