The concept of brain death

Abstract

There is general agreement on the necessity and validity of the concept of brain death. However, the definition of brain death is difficult and the current criteria for its diagnosis are issues which are yet to be resolved. Clinical examination remains the central point in the assessment of brain death suspects.
