Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between the demographic characteristics of the main manager and the use of information to support the decision in Micro and Small Companies. This study is classified as quantitative, descriptive and survey. The instrument used was a closed questionnaire, applied to 327 managers in Santa Catarina State (Brazil), selected for convenience between May and August 2016. The data collected were analyzed using the binomial logistic regression technique. The results indicate that these managers are more likely to use financial information than non-financial information. Among the demographic characteristics observed, formal education was the greatest influence, followed by age, and the other characteristics practically did not present a significant relationship. Formal education presented a positive relationship with the probability of the manager using informations, the age presented a negative relation, while the others presented varied relations between the investigated informations.
