Assessing the Army Profession

Abstract

The article discusses the status of the U.S. military and the military as a profession in the 21st century, with particular focus given to relations between the military and the government, public opinion of the military, and the military's strength as an institution. A brief overview of the military's history in the later 20th century is also offered.
