Abstract

The palladium-selenium system has been studied by differential thermal analysis, calorimetry, metallographic and X-ray diffraction techniques. The presence of the well-known phases PdSe2, PdSe,Pd17Se15 and Pd4Se is verified, and the additional phases Pd7Se4, Pd3Se, Pd3.5Se and Pd4.5Se are characterized. All these phases are subject to decomposition on heating, and their decomposition temperatures are determined. A phase diagram of the palladium-selenium system is presented.
