Abstract
A case is reported of a 24-year-old male diagnosed with hepatosplenic schistosomiasis mansoni. He was admitted to a hospital in Brazil with a history of upper digestive tract bleeding, pancytopenia and splenomegaly. Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed splenomegaly and showed Gamna-Gandy bodies that appeared as foci of low signal intensity. The portal vein was patent. He underwent several operations to treat portal hypertension. He was re-examined 30 days post-discharge and was asymptomatic. A brief description of Gamna-Gandy bodies is given.
