Nueva Canción Chilena en dictadura: divergencia, memoria, escuela (1973-1983)

Abstract

ResumenMientras la Nueva Canción Chilena alcanzaba altos niveles de difusiónpública a partir del exilio de sus músicos y la solidaridad internacional luegodel golpe de estado de septiembre de 1973, en Chile lograba sortear conmuchas dificultades la represión y censura a las manifestaciones culturalesdivergentes impuestas por el régimen militar. De este modo la Nueva Canción,movimiento musical de contenido social y raíces folklóricas latinoamericanas,fue desarrollando nuevas estrategias de difusión y nuevas funciones sociales,sin el apoyo de la industria musical, pero con un público que la necesitaba.Este artículo analiza estas disyuntivas producidas en plena Guerra Fría, amedio siglo de los comienzos de la Nueva Canción Chilena.Palabras clave: musicología, música popular, nueva canción, Chile,dictaduraAbstractWhile New Chilean Song was reaching high levels of public exposurethanks to the exile of its musicians and the international solidarity after thecoup of September 1973, in Chile it managed to overcome with difficulty therepression and censorship of divergent cultural expressions imposed by themilitary regime. Thus the New Song, a musical movement of social contentand Latin American folk roots, was developing strategies of survival andnew social functions, without the support of the music industry, but with anaudience that needed it.
