Indonesia has a tropical climate where the highest amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation reaches the earth's surface. Overexposure of UV radiation on the skin can cause various negative effects such as tanning, erythema, sunburn, and skin cancer. The application of sunscreen with a high SPF to the skin is an effort to prevent that negative effect. Senna alata and Anredera cordifolia are plants that have the potential as a natural sunscreen because they both have high antioxidant activity value and the content of polyphenols in the leaves. The aim of this study was to determine the SPF values of a combination of S. alata and A. cordifolia ethanol extracts (CSA) (1:1 v/v) and their protection category. Determination of SPF value by in vitro methods, using UV-Vis spectrophotometer in UV B wavelength (290-320 nm) then the absorbance value obtained was calculated into mathematical equations of Mansur. The protection category of SPF value referred to the Food Drug Administrations (FDA) rules. Furthermore, the SPF value of CSA showed highest at the concentration 600:600 ppm that is 20,797 with ultra protection category while CSA at the concentration 300:200 ppm showed the lowest SPF that is 5,228 with a moderate protection category. This present study supports that the CSA can be potentially developed
