Tempos Pretéritos e Escolhas de Futuro: a Faculdade de Educação da Universidade de São Paulo e a formação docente

Abstract

Resumo: O presente artigo objetiva retraçar o itinerário da Faculdade de Educação (USP) procurando, a partir da experiência dos sujeitos, articular história e memória. Organiza-se em três partes: a primeira abrange a década de 1930, tempo de criação do Instituto de Educação de São Paulo e fundação da USP. A segunda, entre 1940 e 1960, trata da acomodação do antigo instituto na Seção de Pedagogia da Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras. A terceira debruça-se sobre a FEUSP em seu percurso mais recente. Buscou-se recuperar as tradições que estiveram na origem da instituição, seus desdobramentos ao longo do tempo e os modos como aqueles que a constituíram enfrentaram os desafios que cada período colocou.Abstract: This article aims to retrace the history of the USP School of Education (FEUSP) by articulating history and memory based on the subjects' experience. It is organized in three parts: the first covers the 1930s, comprising the creation of the Institute of Education of São Paulo and the foundation of USP. The second, from 1940 to 1960, analyses the setting of the old institute in the Pedagogy Section of the School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters. The third focuses on the FEUSP in its latest events. It attempts to recover the traditions that gave rise to the institution, their development over time and the ways how the challenges offered by each period were faced by the faculty members.
