Abstract

The acaricidal activities of the volatile compounds derived from Melaleuca alternifolia leaf oil were evaluated against house dust mites. Terpinen-4-ol (3. 89 and 3. 51 μg/cm2) was approximately 2. 0 and 1. 7 times more active than benzyl benzoate (7. 83 and 5. 96 μg/cm2). Therefore, terpinen-4-ol could be useful as a natural acaricide. © 2013 The Korean Society for Applied Biological Chemistry.
