Abstract

In this paper are described two new fossil woods from the Deccan Intertrappean Series at Mahurzari (21º13’N; 79º1’ E) near Nagpur in Maharashtra state. These have been assigned to two new genera, Elaeocarpoxylon and Leeoxylon because of their strong resemblance with the modern woods of Elaeocarpus L. and Leea L. respectively.
