Abstract
Nutmeg is one superior commodities in North Sulawesi especially in Sitaro Regency. The economic value of nutmeg commodity has a prospective development, but the economic viability of the nutmeg farming is still a problem. The aims of this study to analyse of nutmeg economic viability in Sitaro District. Primary data collection was carried out since June to December 2016 through a survey method using interview techniques with a semi-structural interview questionnaire, supplemented by focus group discussions (FGD) at the district level. The collected data were analyzed using economic indicators and parameters by applying the B/C, NPV, IRR, PP, and Workers' Riil Rewards formula. The results of a partial analysis of nutmeg farming in Sitaro District are classified as profitable and economically feasible. By applying each Bank's interest rate to the scenario 12, 15 and 18%. The Pay Back investment period is over 12.3 years, and the real labor imbalance is 1.9 times the actual real wage. However, nutmeg farming in Sitaro still has a chance to be optimized to increase the recommended nutmeg production capacity. Agronomic technical guidance and institutional systems for farming/production are a necessity to support the improvement of nutmeg production optimization in Sitaro District.
