A digital catalogue for uploading and managing Renovation Packages through a BIM-based Digital Building Logbook

Abstract

There is currently an increase in building renovations aimed at improving energy performance to comply with European energy efficiency regulations. Achieving these improvements requires not only upgrading construction materials but also implementing more efficient energy systems, which are essential for reducing environmental impact and improving indoor environmental quality. Digital transformation in renovation processes can help technicians implement proposed solutions more effectively. However, access to specific innovative solutions for renovation projects remains limited. This paper presents the development of a digital repository integrated with a Digital Building Logbook (DBL) within the REHOUSE project framework, designed to enhance the management and dissemination of Renovation Packages (RPs), which are comprehensive sets of components incorporating advanced technological innovations. Serving as a digital catalogue, the repository provides detailed RP specifications and supplementary resources, including BIM models, guidelines, and datasets, essential for integration with energy simulation tools. The integration of the catalogue with the DBL is a key innovation introduced in the REHOUSE project, enabling advanced functionalities for managing and updating RPs. At the same time, the public section of the catalogue is accessible independently of the DBL, allowing users to explore and utilise the resources without requiring access to the DBL. This repository enables RP developers to semi-automatically publish RPs directly from a dedicated DBL module. By integrating advanced digital tools, this system optimises the renovation process, promoting the replicability and application of innovative solutions that have already been implement and validated, as is the case of the RPs developed within REHOUSE.
