Abstract

The main objective of this study is to analyze the effect of entrepreneurship education and institutional environment on the entrepreneurial mindset and intent of university students. For this purpose, a survey is applied to a sample of 221 economics and administration students enrolled at an institution located in the central-southern region of Chile. A partial least squares model (PLS-SEM) is applied to process the data and test the hypotheses. The results show that that there are direct effects of education and entrepreneurial mindset on entrepreneurial intent. There are also indirect effects of education and institutional context that are mediated by the entrepreneurial mindset of students. It is concluded that it is important to incorporate institutional strategies to favor entrepreneurial education and mentality in institutional environments since they have a positive impact on the entrepreneurial intent of students.
