Abstract

"Two experiments were conducted to determine the effect on a paired-associates learning task of prior familiarization with a single 'prototype' stimulus representing the central tendency of the stimuli to be identified.... Positive results were obtained in both experiments: i.e., familiarization with central 'prototype' stimulus decreased errors on the paired-associates task."
