This article discusses the tensions surrounding the legitimacy of the Brazilian feminist political subjects in the interface with the concepts of democracy and autonomy. The study adopts an ethnography perspective to analyze the 10th Latin American and Caribbean Feminist Meeting, held in São Paulo in 2005, an important space for the constitution of the thoughts and actions of the feminist movement in Brazil and Latin America. © 2011 by Revista Estudos Feministas.
