Abstract

The purpose of this research is to extract anatase titanium dioxide by leaching method using sulfuric acid from mineral sand of Tulungagung. Anatase extraction was carried out with magnetic separation and characterized by XRF, which found that the main compounds in the mineral sand are Fe2O3 and TiO2 with a percentage are 83.35% and 12.20%. Furthermore, the magnetic powder is dissolved with H2SO4, and continued with vacuum pump, the result is a filtrate which neutralized with distilled water to form a precipitate. The precipitate was calcined at 600°C for 2 hours. After that XRD characterization was performed to determine the desired anatase TiO2 phase by analyzing using Match! software and rietveld. The analysis results showed that a single phase anatase TiO2 with a nanocrystalline size of 2.41 nm was formed
