Social Innovation and Village Development: A Bibliometric Analysis of Trends and Impacts in Indonesia

Abstract

This study elucidates the trends and impacts of social innovation on village development in Indonesia using bibliometric analysis. Social innovation is crucial for sustainable development and addressing rural challenges. The primary objective is to explore how social innovation fosters economic growth, reduces disparities, and enhances social cohesion in rural areas. The methodology involves comprehensive bibliometric analysis with bibliometric software and Biblioshiny, mapping articles indexed in Scopus to visualize the scientific landscape, author collaboration networks, and citation trends. This approach identifies key themes, influential researchers, and research evolution in social innovation and village development. Results reveal that social innovation significantly contributes to village development by promoting inclusive, participatory, and community-based approaches. It empowers local communities, fosters entrepreneurship, creates job opportunities, and bridges economic gaps between urban and rural areas. The 2014 Village Law in Indonesia is highlighted as a critical policy granting villages autonomy to manage their service sectors independently, despite challenges in environmental standards and governance structures. In conclusion, this study provides valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers, emphasizing the importance of supporting social innovation initiatives to create resilient and sustainable rural communities. By deepening the understanding of the relationship between social innovation and village development, this research aids in formulating strategies that effectively address rural development challenges.
