Desarrollo psicomotor en niños institucionalizados y no institucionalizados

Abstract

La investigación tuvo como objetivo el determinar si existen diferencias y semejanzas en el desarrollo psicomotor en infantes de dos a cinco años institucionalizados y no institucionalizados (viven con sus familias). Se evaluaron a 42 niños de los cuales 20 provienen de diversas instituciones y 22 de ambientes no institucionalizados, 14 hijos únicos, 21 infantes de dos a tres años y 21 de cuatro a cinco años, de los cuales 21 fueron varones y 21 mujeres. Es un estudio correlacional; se usó la Escala de Desarrollo TEPSI. El principal hallazgo fue que los infantes no institucionalizados presentan mejor desarrollo psicomotor general que los infantes institucionalizados con significancia estadística; no se encontraron diferencias significativas en coordinación, así como en otras características como el ser hijo único, sexo o edad.The aim of the research was to determine if there are differences and similarities in psychomotor development in institutionalized and non-institutionalized (living with their families) toddlers from two to five years of age. Forty-two children were evaluated, 20 from different institutions and 22 from non-institutionalized environ-ments, 14 were only children, 21 children from two to three years old and 21 from four to five years old, 21 boys and 21 girls. It is a correlational study and the TEPSI Deve-lopmental Scale was used. The main finding was that non-institutionalized toddlers presented better general psychomotor development than institutionalized infants with statistical significance. No significant differences were found in coordination, as well as in other characteristics such as being an only child, sex or age.
