Abstract
Non-A, non-B hepatitis, an important cause of morbidity and mortality from liver disease has until recently been defined by the lack of an identificable causative agent. The discovery of the hepatitis C virus - undoubtedly the most significant recent advance in hepatitis research - represents only the beginning of a new understanding of this disease and its epidemiology. This conference's review of non-A, non-B hepatitis and the impact of the hepatitis C virus discovery wil be given by Tow Dewar, MD, who has served with dedication, tact, good humor, and a quiet insistence on excellence as a chief medical resident over the past year.
