The article offers information on the analysis of the survey conducted by the General Social Survey (GSS) in the U.S with regards to marital infidelity. It mentions that the GSS survey can provide information on the attitude of study participants towards marital infidelity along with social and demographic correlation of infidelity on 1973 and 1991. The result of the survey presents the perception of Americans wherein 80% believe that it is always wrong for a spouse to have sexual relations with someone while 11% believe that it is almost wrong. It states various factors which contribute to the behaviors and attitudes of an individual to cheat such as education and race. Author Stephanie Coontz adds that committing of adultery is common in the period of the development of technologies.
