Abstract
This study aims to determine the mathematical abilities of fourth-level elementary school (SD) students in number content. The research method used is exploratory descriptive. The research subjects were state elementary school students in the DKI Jakarta area. The research instrument consists of 25 multiple choice questions developed by researcher. The data source was taken from primary data, namely the answers of 407 elementary school students who were research respondents in March 2022. Research analysis used the Rasch model, data processing used the Winstep program Version 4.4.7. The results of the analysis explain: 1) the results of the calibration of respondents obtained 290 from 407 data that were in accordance with the Rasch model, while the calibration of the question items found that 21 from 25 questions were in accordance with the Rasch model with a reliability index of 0.97 or very high, 2) the results analysis of the items stated that of the 21 items that were in accordance with the Rasch model, it was found that the most difficult items were numbers 25 and 22 with logit values = 1.24 and 1.11, while the easiest items were numbers 7 and 8. Questions number 25 and 22 are part of the content on decimal numbers and fractions, while questions number 7 and 8 are part of the content on whole numbers. These results also explain that the number content considered the most difficult by research respondents is the content on operations on decimal numbers and fractions, while the easiest is the content on whole number operations. In general, the average mathematical ability of students who were research respondents was low with a logit value =-0.71 below the average value, namely 0.00. To be able to improve mathematics skills, apart from improving the teaching abilities of educators, it is also hoped that they can improve abilities in the field of assessment; valid, objective, transparant and sustainable assessment will be an asset for us to know our weaknesses and improve them in the future.
