Abstract

The investigation of Savonius turbine for water application has a good opportunity to develop because of the high impact power of water. Simulation is an interesting research method to minimize various factors and costs in experimental research. This research aims to get the best combination design of deflector and blade curvature angle of the Savonius water turbine installed in the pipeline. The study obtains the data on turbines such as velocity, pressure, and torque and focuses on turbine torque based on the blade angle of attack. The best design of the turbine which produced a torque of 1.09 Nm is obtained by the turbine with 3 blades, blade curvature angle of 130°, and the deflector angle of 50°.
