Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the mathematical connections that students use to solve mathematical issues. This study employs qualitative techniques and descriptive research. Tests and interviews were used to obtain data for this study, which was done on grade VIII-7 students at SMP Negeri 1 Krembung. The subjects in this study were two students who answered the questions completely and got the final results. The findings demonstrate that different mathematical connections are made when solving mathematical problems related to everyday life. S1 makes connections between mathematical concepts and everyday life, relationships between concepts in mathematics, and relations between mathematical concepts and procedures. S1 can write the final results correctly, and the completion process is accurate. Meanwhile, S2 makes connections between mathematical concepts and everyday life and between concepts in mathematics, but S2 does not make connections between mathematical concepts and procedures, so S2 uses trial and error procedures to solve mathematical problems.
