Abstract

To make alloys resistant to oxidation, the following requirements must be met: Formation of uniform and compact oxide scale on the alloys; Less cracking and spallation of this protective scale; and Immediate healing of the scale, if cracking and spallation occurs. A detailed description of the cited processes is given.
