Abstract

A novel ultraviolet (UV)-curable monomer α,ω-dichloropolysiloxane was synthesized by the telomerization of dichlorodimethylsilane and octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D4). The products with very low peel strength (<0.332 N/cm) could be used as release agents in pressure-sensitive adhesives. Moreover, the values of the dispersion component of surface energy (γsd) from the films of UV-curable prepolymers (26.40-33.75 mJ/m2) were determined and the effects of γsd on the reduction of adhesion were investigated.
