Abstract

Right-wing populist revolt can be interpreted as an “ambivalox” movement of a Polanyian type, the following article argues. In order to classify populist revolt in this way, an ideal-typical distinction is made between market-critical and class movements. With the help of an empirical study that examines the world-views of employees with right-wing sympathies, the thesis is tested and refined.
