Abstract

Our nationwide bioinformatics infrastructure used to detect important sex differences associated with medical product use is antiquated. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has embarked on an ambitious bioinformatics modernization effort that will improve our ability to assess the safety and effectiveness of new medical products. This, in turn, will improve our ability to detect important sex differences. © 2008 American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.
