Abstract

The present study focuses on the region of peripheral bulging (forebulge), which will try to explain which were the geological events that allowed the possibility of receiving and preserving sediments, as well as the generation of stratigraphic traps during the period between the Eocene and the Oligocene in the Eastern Llanos Basin of Colombia. Were highlighted the aspects related to the productive layers in the southeastern region of the Llanos Basin, postulating a subdivision of the lower reservoir (Areniscas Basales) into two units deposited under dissimilar stages during the evolution of the foreland basin. Subsequently, 13,930 kilometers of 2D seismic lines and 71 exploratory wells were interpreted to describe and analyze the elements and mechanisms that coexist as essential factors of heavy oil accumulations, defining different styles of combined traps and emphasizing the presence of great remaining potential for these shallow plays.
